Our Functional Wellness Solutions

Know Your True Health

Through lab testing, we can identify nutrient deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, food intolerances and genetic predispositions. Once we determine your current state of health, our team can target insufficiencies with custom infusions and functional wellness solutions for optimal health, symptom relief and prevention.

  • Functional medicine testing can give us an understanding of your essential nutrients, thyroid function, cardiovascular health, inflammatory markers, hormones, and more.

  • Our specialty tests probe into a specific health concern and may include testing gut microbiome and digestive function, stress and reproductive hormone testing, food sensitivity, energy and metabolism evaluation and other conditions.

Research shows that gut health impacts your overall physical condition. The gut microbiome plays a critical role in mediating the effects of diet and other factors on health—including digestive, immune, metabolic and neuroendocrine functions.

We can assess the state of your GI health using GI-MAP (Microbial Assay Plus). A unique tool in the field of comprehensive stool testing, this test uses quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) technology to detect parasites, bacteria, fungi, and more—by targeting the specific DNA of the organisms tested.

Nearly every patient can benefit from a GI-MAP health assessment. Some may be looking to achieve optimal health, while others may have been chronically ill and undiagnosed for years.

Some conditions that warrant testing include:

  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Brain fog
  • Diabetes and weight loss issues
  • Digestive complaints, diarrhea or constipation
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
  • Mood disorders, depression, and anxiety
  • Skin problems, like acne and psoriasis

Allergies affect approximately 25% of the population, and their incidence is on the rise. Because the immune system can change over time, allergies can be difficult to pinpoint and diagnose. At Hang 10 Drips, we conduct allergy testing with the IgE Allergy Explorer, an essential tool for effective allergy identification and management.

IgE stands for Immunoglobulin E, antibodies produced by the immune system. Using the IgE Allergy Explorer, we can test for more than 150 allergens at the extract and component level, making it the most extensive and affordable functional medicine allergy test available. Plus, the entire panel is a simple at-home collection using just a few drops of blood.

Who can benefit from IgE Allergy Explorer?

The IgE Allergy Explorer testing can benefit patients with any of the following symptoms:

  • Abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting
  • Fluctuations in heart rate
  • Hives or eczema
  • History of allergic reaction
  • Itching or swelling of skin
  • Itchy mouth or oral irritation
  • Nasal and sinus congestion
  • Wheezing or shortness of breath

Organic acid testing provides insight into how well patients function metabolically. At Hang 10 Drips, we use insights from the Organic Acid Profile to personalize protocols to help patients improve dysfunctional pathways that may be contributing to current or future disease states.

Such pathways can negatively impact mood, energy production, and overall health—while also providing insight into nutrient insufficiency, diet composition, toxic exposures, and microbial metabolism. The test report, based on a urine sample, is designed to help practitioners establish a patient baseline and to identify core health issues in those with health conditions.

Through metabolomics research, we can evaluate the following conditions associated with organic acid testing:

  • Dysmetabolism, prediabetes, and diabetes
  • Weight changes and obesity
  • Fatigue
  • Athletic performance
  • Poor immune function
  • Depression and anxiety
  • GI microbial activity
  • Renal and liver dysfunction

Our functional medicine practitioners can provide customized testing to meet any of your specific health needs.

Functional medicine focuses on addressing the underlying causes of disease and illness, rather than just treating symptoms. Our very own Lisa Barr, MD and Melanie Scaggs, RN, BSN, FMP (functional medicine practitioner) are available to provide functional medicine consultations to create an individualized treatment plan that addresses the root causes of your health concerns.

  • During a functional medicine consultation, you’ll be asked detailed questions about your medical history, diet, exercise habits, stress levels, sleep patterns, and other factors. We may order laboratory tests or other diagnostic tests to gain a more complete understanding of your current health status.

  • Based on the information gathered, we will create a personalized treatment plan that may include dietary and lifestyle changes, supplements, medications, and other therapies. The goal of functional medicine is to holistically optimize your health and well-being!
