Unconventional and innovative, “mavericks” often think big, live large and leave a crushing impact in their wake—much like the force of a maverick wave. Measuring up to 60-feet tall, these epic swells can shake nearby seismographs and are known among devoted surfers as the “holy grail” of surfing lore.

With my colleagues with Hang 10 Drips Infusions + Functional Wellness Solutions, we tapped into this energy when naming our own Maverick IV drip, an NAD+ infusion. Short for Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, NAD+ is an essential enzyme found in all bodily cells. It is directly involved in the body’s key metabolic processes including energy production, cell and DNA repair, collagen production, modulation of our immune system and stress response.

When we are young and healthy, our bodies naturally produce NAD+. These levels, however, decrease as our bodies begin to show signs of physical and mental aging. This makes our Maverick NAD+ IV infusion beneficial in alleviating age-related ailments, promoting longevity and boosting one’s overall sense of wellbeing.

An extraordinary IV infusion

The NAD+ in the Maverick is an all-natural solution for those suffering from chronic disease and age-related health issues. In addition to boosting overall wellness in healthy individuals, NAD+ is a cofactor central to metabolism. It is found in nearly all living cells and is essential to sustaining life.

As we age, our bodies generate less of this coenzyme—a reason why we begin to feel the effects of aging and become more prone to age-related illnesses. Researchers have found that reduced NAD+ levels can also contribute to the onset of age-related diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular conditions and neurological disorders.

One of the key benefits of NAD+ IV infusion (and all the infusions Hang 10  Drips offers) is how it is delivered. With IV nutrient therapy, 100% of the nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream, going to work immediately to promote optimal health and wellness.

Aging effects of free radicals

Studies published in the National Library of Medicine have shown that NAD+ therapy boosts organ function and immunity; protects against DNA damage and inflammation; and enhances longevity through its anti-aging properties and the body’s essential functions.

Aging exposes us to an increase of free radicals that are toxic to the body. Free radicals can damage DNA because the free radicals are usually more than the body’s antioxidants, which serve as a defense against them.

As a powerful antioxidant, IV NAD+ infusion therapy slows down and even reverses this process according to the medical study. NAD+ IV infusion can also protect against age-related neurodegenerative conditions by protecting neurons in the brain from free radical damage.

IV NAD+ therapy can improve immune system function and help with autoimmunity. Employing a Maverick approach to mitigating a variety of chronic inflammatory conditions can help with pain. NAD+ IV treatment has been used as an adjunct for the treatment of autoimmune conditions such as arthritis and fibromyalgia by correcting DNA damage and managing pain.

Enhancing healthy brain function

NAD+ is an essential component of brain health, helping the brain adapt to various stress levels. NAD+ IV infusion facilitates “healthy brain aging” and improves cognitive function by promoting healthy cell growth and stimulating cell regeneration. This is particularly helpful for people prone to brain fog or difficulty focusing.

In neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, the NAD+ levels are reduced and there is an increased level of toxic substances. Studies published in the Journal of Neuroinflammation have shown that NAD+ infusion therapy helps slow down this process and improves neurodegenerative conditions by adding detoxification.

Aiding addiction recovery

Addiction and dependence on alcohol or other drugs can change how our brain functions. NAD+ serves as a potent adjunct during addiction recovery. With the ability to restore brain function at the cellular level, NAD+ infusion therapy helps restore the body’s energy level by detoxifying harmful effects of abused substances and preventing relapse by significantly reducing cravings. IV NAD+ therapy is not a cure for addiction but a natural alternative to other medication used during recovery.

Managing chronic stress

Most diseases stem from stress, which can zap our energy. Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) is the cellular currency of the body—the energy needed to drive nearly all cellular processes. NAD+ is a key component in the pathway by which our body obtains energy in the form of ATP. IV NAD+ supplies the body with an energy boost and primes it to cope with excessive stress and fatigue. For these reasons, IV NAD+ can benefit those with PTSD. With the addition of other nutrients, an NAD+ infusion can also help with chronic fatigue syndrome, a prolonged state of tiredness and fatigue.

While exercise is a good stress reliever, some people can over exercise and experience increased oxidative stress. In athletes, IV NAD+ optimizes the energy available to muscles, combating muscle fatigue and helping with post exercise recovery. Many athletes  IV NAD+ may  enhance athletic performance. As NAD+ enhances blood vessel function, it helps with both muscle recovery and building muscle bulk.

Helping to combat depression and anxiety

Depression and anxiety can deplete the body’s stores of NAD. Changes in brain health occur at a cellular level but manifest physically as well as emotionally via disturbances in the mood.

IV NAD+ treatments have been shown to boost key neurotransmitters, substances found in the brain that fluctuate widely based on our state of health. The balance of these neurotransmitters controls our mood and pain threshold. They also function as precursors for sirtuins that mediate inflammatory processes in the body. This is part of the “mind-body” connection. NAD+ IV drips boost moods and reverses severe symptoms in patients with depression and anxiety, aiding recovery and a better outcome.

How long does the Maverick NAD+ infusion take?

The duration for the Maverick NAD+ infusion depends on the reason for the treatment and the dose of NAD* administered. A Registered Nurse will administer the drip and will be available during the appointment. Typically, we start NAD+ therapy conservatively, as it takes time for the body to acclimate. The first infusion takes approximately 3-4 hours. As we increase the dosage for subsequent infusions, the treatment time usually reduces to approximately 2 hours. NAD+ IV benefits vary among people receiving it, based on personal and health composition.

What should I do to prepare for an NAD+ infusion?

Eat! We cannot stress enough the importance of eating prior to and during the NAD+ infusions. We recommend that you bring healthy snacks to munch on while you are dripping.

Are there any side effects of IV NAD+?

IV NAD+ intravenous infusions are generally safe and not known to have any serious side effects. However, it is an invasive procedure that involves direct entry into the bloodstream, and this might come with its complications. Common side effects include nausea, abdominal cramping and soreness over the injection site. NAD+ IV injection benefits often come without these side effects.

At Hang 10 Drips, our highly skilled staff ensures that your procedure goes smoothly. In summary, our Maverick Drip IV NAD+ protocol restores NAD+ levels in the body, optimizes the body to better combat diseases, slows down the aging process and supports critical body processes.
